Dr. CAREing’s providers are highly knowledgeable, and our “open-access” scheduling means we keep room each day for patients who need to be seen right away — five days a week, plus Saturday by appointment.
Dr. Astrid Gutsmann brings rare depth to family medicine. She holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from UT Health San Antonio and a D.O. from UNT Health Science Center, completed residency at UT Southwestern and Parkland, and has owned Dr. CAREing since 2006. She is board-certified in family medicine and directs the on-site CLIA lab, equipped with state-of-the-art blood analyzers so many tests can be done in the office. She has published on aging and molecular biology and has cared for Allen families for nearly two decades.
Mary Jacob is a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Family Nurse Practitioner. She has provided compassionate, comprehensive care since 2019. A graduate of Arkansas State University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program, she brings strong family-medicine experience and treats school-age children, adults, and older adults. Dr. Jacob believes in listening closely, understanding each patient’s needs, and building trusted relationships. Her practice emphasizes preventive care, health promotion, and helping patients reach lasting wellness. Outside the clinic, she enjoys time with family, travel, discovering new places, and creative work that broadens her perspective.
Blessy Simon, NP, has practiced with Dr. CAREing for many years. She is a nurse practitioner with a solid family-medicine background and sees school-age children, adults, and older adults. Her work is built on careful listening, a clear grasp of what each patient needs, and relationships that last past a single visit.
She is known for finishing what she starts and for speaking plainly with patients and families. Prevention and everyday health habits sit at the center of her visits. The aim is straightforward: keep people safe, able to live on their own terms, and living well over time. When care continues after the office visit, she keeps the same plan in place so nothing is lost between appointments.
